Fear is a Force
On the active and creative mastering of everyday anxiety
Completely revised new edition
UNDERSTANDING MENTAL PROCESSES AND MAKING USE OF THEM
Fear is an important emotion that can support us in mastering real threats. But it can also sabotage us when we try to reduce it or to avoid its triggers, instead of accepting it and dealing with it. Based on his many years of experience as a psychotherapist and on scientific findings, Willi Butollo, with the aid of case studies, explains different triggers of anxiety as well as the psychological processes associated with it and offers profound solutions and approaches. Thanks to greater attention, understanding, and authenticity, a positive effect and mastering of fear becomes possible.
Prof Dr Willi Butollo, born in Austria in 1944, is a psychologist and psychotherapist. In 1974, he became a tenured professor for clinical psychology and psychotherapy at Munich University and retired in 2012. The focus of his work is: problems with chronic anxiety and posttraumatic stress disorder. In 1981, he founded the IPS (Institute for Psychotherapy and Supervision), in 1988 the MIT (Munich Institute for Trauma Therapy).
