An illustrated text book about the world´s holiest mountain. With original text taken from the Tibetan „Crystal Mirror”, with comments and explanations by Bruno Baumann, one of the best connoisseurs of Tibet.

„At that place that forms the hub of the world the most powerful of mountains rise: the snowy mountain of Kaislash in all ist splendor.” These are the words written in the „Crystal Mirror”, one of the oldest Tibetan guides for pilgrims to the world´s holiest mountain in West Tibet. The text was written more than one hundred years ago by a Lama of high rank and describes the holy places around the Kailash and lake Manasarovar, the holy lake situated at the mountain´s foot.

For the first time now, the text is printed in German. Bruno Baumann takes the reader to the most important places and explains their importance with the help of the original text. His magnificent pictures taken during more than twenty trips to the Kailash convey the feeling of the special power of this mountain, the translucency and fastness of the landscape there.

Bruno Baumann, born in 1955, studied ethnology and history; he lives in Munich where he works as an author and film maker. In his acclaimed books at Herbig „The Gods Will Prevail. Hidden Tibet” and „Mustang. Hidden Kingdom in the Himalayas” he not only reveals the mental and spiritual dimension of these advanced civilizations but also their political and economic development. He caused a sensation when he crossed the Gobi desert singlehanded.
