Face to face with the wild
He has survived being attacked by lions, was almost trampled to death by an elephant, and has lived through close encounters with leopards and rhinos: Benny Rebel, the award-winning animal photographer, describes the exciting adventures behind his photographs. He talks about his early journeys and his expeditions to Africa, India, Iran and the Galapagos Islands, always on the hunt for the best shots. He describes how challenging it can be to find the right place and the ideal moment to capture wild animals on film. Complemented by his impressive photographs, many of which were taken in life-threatening situations, this book is a compelling reading experience.
Benny Rebel was born in Iran in 1968, and has been living in Hanover since 1987. An environmentalist and animal photographer, he has won several awards, including Foto Magazine’s »Photographer of the Year« and Austrian Super Circuit’s »Best Nature Photographer «. A documentary about him and his work, »The Quest for King Cheetah«, was made by NDR (North German Television Broadcasting Corporation). His first book of photographs, »Untamed«, was published by Herbig in 2006, followed in 2007 by terra magica’s photo book »The Wild Animals of Africa in 3D« in English and German.
