Prof. Dr. Gustav Born, son of Nobel Prize winner Max Born, is a professor of medicine and has received numerous awards for his work. In addition, he has received ten honorary doctorates by universities in the United States and Europe. He is a member of the Royal Society in Great Britain and the sponsor of two grammar schools in Southern Germany. At present, the eighty-three-year-old is the director of research of the William Harvey Research Institute and the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry. He lives with his family in England.
Lorie Karnath is a close friend of Gustav Born. She is a member of the NFCR Board and managing director of International Rescentris. She also works for the National Foundation for Cancer Research and is the representative of the committee for Nobel Prize winners in Lindau. She has published numerours articles on science, business and research. Lorie Karnath met Amalie at a family gathering of the Born family in the Black Forest.
