Hunter of the lost sense

»I demand everything from myself in an interview«,
said author and journalist André Müller, who was known as the master of literary interrogations. With his direct manner of asking the most intimate questions, mostly about love and death, he often led his counterparts to reveal things they might not have wanted to expose. His interviews have been published in all major newspapers and provoked shocking confessions and scandals alike. From Karl Lagerfeld and Toni Schumacher, Peter Handke and Salman Rushdie to Leni Riefenstahl, Hanna Schygulla and Günter Grass – this is the art of conversation brought to perfection.

André Müller, born in 1946 in Brandenburg, Germany, grew up in Vienna and studied German language and literature, philosophy and history; he died in Munich in 2011. He worked as a legal correspondent and theatre critic. He moved to Munich in 1970, and started working free-lance in 1975. His spectacular interviews have been published in major newspapers and magazines such as Die Zeit, Stern, Weltwoche, Der Spiegel and Playboy.
