Leafing and browsing through its pages, immersing yourself in memories: a photographic report of an eventful time.

What was life like for West Germans while the Federal Republic of Germany was taking shape?
The photo journalist Hanns Hubmann documented every single facet of their lives during the Adenauer era. In touching pictures, he captured great moments in history on camera, such as the signing of the German constitution, the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany, first state visits from foreign politicians, scenes of Germany being rebuilt, and first indicators of the economic
miracle, as well as unforgettable moments from the flourishing film industry and the world’s most favourite pastime, sports. An atmospheric selection of pictures from the recent German past.

Hanns Hubmann (1910–1996) is one  of the bestknown German photo journalists, whose favourite subjects, apart from cultural life and sports, were political events. From the Third Reich to the late years of the old Federal Republic of Germany, he accompanied the high and the mighty with his camera. In 1948 he was one of the founding members of Quick magazine.
