Worldly wisdom in literature
Great ideas transform us. They inspire our thinking and our behaviour, put us in touch with life’s essential issues, and help us to better understand ourselves and others. Philosopher Reiner Ruffing covers a wide range all the way from antiquity to modernity, and explains the fifty most important literary concepts of all time, outlining the context in which they originated and what they mean for our life today. Buoyed up by the beauty of the written word and moved by profound principles of worldly wisdom, you can travel with him through the history of human thinking without leaving the comfort of your own home.
Reiner Ruffing, PhD, born in 1955 in Homburg on the Saar, took his doctorate in Berlin under the supervision of Prof. Gerhard Göhler and Prof. Gesine Schwan. Dr Ruffing is a consultant at the Berlin Information Centre, visiting lecturer on political theory at the Otto Suhr Institute for Political Science at the Berlin Free University, and a lecturer in adult and further education. The author has written several books on philosophy.
