The adventures of Krümel the cat – a delightful book for lovers of our four-pawed friends

In their millions, animal lovers were glued to their screens when Gudrun Thiele, the popular television personality, presented the show ›You and Your Pet‹ – during the course of ten years, the programme was aired 114 times. The animal magic is still there in her novel A Princess on Four Paws, in which her heroine Krümel describes her everyday life as a cat, and how she got lucky: initially abandoned, she eventually found a paradisial home. Krümel describes her worries, be they major or minor, and the friends she has made in her territory. It’s a cat’s-eye view of the world, full of ups and downs, but one perspective is always consistent: Krümel sees her owner as a giant cat on two legs. And we can’t help thinking of Krümel as a very special human being on four paws!

Gudrun Thiele worked for East German television from 1966 until 1991, initially as an editorial assistant at the Halle studio where she trained to be an announcer, then from 1969 as a presenter, and subsequently as a TV journalist in Berlin. For almost a decade she presented the popular family show ›You and Your Pet‹, followed in 1990/91 by ›Gudrun’s Animal Quiz‹. Now living in Berlin, Gudrun Thiele has applied her talents to writing.
