The Children of the King

A secret society of fanatical followers of King Ludwig, a mysterious murder – a morbid black crime thriller.

The vengeful spirits of the king of fantasy are are biding their time, waiting to take revenge, and no one will be able to stop them. On the eastern banks of Lake Starnberg the corpse of a local reporter is found – he had been investigating a secret society of followers of Ludwig II. On the very evening before the murder, Hauke Herlyn, the shy antiquarian, had noticed the victim trying to make contact with some of the members of the inner circle, so he decides to follow the trail himself. But before long he is far too deeply involved in the mysterious murder, and the distinction between the case and a tragic experience in his youth becomes increasingly blurred.


Sabine Zaplin was born in Herford, North-Rhine-Westfalia in 1964. She studied German literature and worked in the theatre as a director, actress and playwright. Her debut novel „AngelArm” received much critical acclaim from the press. Like the murder victim, Zaplin works for the regional section of the „Süddeutsche Zeitung”; she lives with her family in Munich.
