Elly Beinhorn, born in 1907, was the most famous woman in Germany in the 1930s and received the highest aeronautical award, the Hindenburg Cup. In 1935, she married the famous racecar driver Bernd Rosemeyer who had a fatal accident in 1938, only two months after their son Bernd was born. Elly Beinhorn received numerous distinctions and awards, among them was the Federel Service Cross 1st Class in 1991. After her breathtaking career as an aviator she has published several books and has written radio plays. Today, she lives near Munich.
